This e-course platform is operated by Self Enquiry Life Fellowship (“we,” “us,” or “the Nonprofit”), a nonprofit organization offering educational and spiritual resources through WordPress and LearnDash.

We are committed to protecting your personal information and ensuring transparency in how your data is collected, used, and safeguarded.

This Privacy Policy applies to all those whose personal information is dealt with in any way by the Nonprofit including devotees, event attendees, officers, monastics, employees, volunteers, contractors, suppliers, and others who come into contact with our organization.

This policy explains how the Nonprofit complies with the General Data Protection Regulation (“the GDPR”) and other applicable laws and regulations relating to the processing of personal data and privacy, including statutory instruments.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, along with the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help detect spam.

An anonymized string created from your email address (a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to determine if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/.

After approval of your comment, your profile picture may be visible publicly alongside your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, avoid uploading images that include embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors may be able to download and extract location data from images on the site.

Cookies

If you leave a comment, you may opt in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies for convenience; these cookies last for one year. A temporary cookie is set when visiting the login page to check browser compatibility and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, cookies are used to store your login details and display preferences. Login cookies last for two days, or up to two weeks if “Remember Me” is selected, while screen preference cookies last for one year. Logging out removes login cookies. If you edit or publish content, a temporary cookie storing the post ID is created and expires after one day.

Our platform, including LearnDash functionality, also uses cookies to maintain your session and track course progress. You may disable cookies in your browser settings, though some features may not function properly.

Embedded content from other websites

Lessons or articles on this site may include embedded content such as videos, images, or articles. Embedded content behaves in the same way as if you visited the external website directly, and those websites may collect data about you, use cookies, and track your interaction with their content, especially if you are logged into their platform.

Who we share your data with

Your personal data will be treated as strictly confidential and will only be made available to those members of our staff and volunteer team who need to see it in order to perform their functions/roles/responsibilities at the Nonprofit. We do not sell, rent or otherwise share or disclose your private, personally identifiable information to third party data controllers.

If you request a password reset, your IP address may be included in the reset email.

How we use your information

We collect and use personal information to provide access to courses and educational materials, process registrations, purchases, or donations, and communicate with you about your account or course participation. We may also use your information to send updates, newsletters, or relevant offerings, from which you may opt out at any time, as well as to respond to inquiries or support requests and to improve the platform, its content, and overall user experience. If you voluntarily submit personal or sensitive information, such as in the context of spiritual guidance requests, it is treated as confidential and accessed only by authorized personnel.

How long we retain your data

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also access and manage this data. We retain data only as long as necessary for operational, legal, or security purposes.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account or have submitted personal data, you may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you, request correction of inaccurate or outdated data, request deletion of your personal data, withdraw consent for data processing, request transfer of your data (data portability), and object to or restrict certain types of processing. Some data may be retained where required for legal or administrative purposes. To exercise these rights, please contact us using the details below.

Children

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If a parent or guardian becomes aware that his or her child has provided us with personal information without such parent or guardian’s consent, he or she should contact us. If we become aware that a child under 18 has provided us with personal information, we will delete such information from our files.

Data security

We adopt appropriate data collection, storage and processing practices and security measures to protect against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure or destruction of your personal information.
